A rememberence video of an dynamic woman, my Grandmother Virginia B Anderson
(Video, audio and editing done by me. If you are interested in having a video done for a family member I am going to start offering this service soon)
Virginia is my Grandmother. A stunning, vivacious woman who would never go without letting you know how she felt.
You know, there are some people we meet in life who show us space within ourselves to learn. Something about that person is stirring an emotion or thought that creates us togrow... They have a way about them that provokes a different way of thinking on how we see ourselves and the World around us,Virginia B Anderson was one of those people.
It was no wonder she decided to hold a clergy and begin her journey through her own church to touch as many people as she did.
She was a very strong and dynamic woman and what she had in courage of determination, she also had in stamina and poise.
Virginia was born October 22nd, 1924 as Virginia Betty Coffman in Hollywood, CA. As the youngest in the family with two older siblings, she would often describe to us that she felt as a child "the black sheep in the family". She would even point to her head and say "even my hair was black." :)
She told us stories of growing up in the Heart of Los Angeles going to Santa Monica beach, roller skating down Rodeo Drive.
Her progressive ways of thinking in a Seventh Day Adventist family I could only imagine created a stir, not only in herself to later pursue the course of Spirituality and to find her own accord, but might have had her relationship with her family seeing her as a rebel.
Rebel, she really wasn't. Because she followed rules diligently, however, opinionated and determined- yes. There is a photo of the family on the back table, and looking at her little face- I see someone who already had a voice letting everyone know what she thought.
Virginia raised a daughter, my mother, in Bonita, CA while working for the Navy. Through a relationship with a colleague in her office she was introduced to the world of psychic divination. She was highly impressed one of her staff members predicted an outcome to a situation, she was intrigued tenfold and so the story goes: she started her way through the First Spiritualist Church in Bonita where she was ordained. Being the 3rd person in her family to be a minister, it seemed very fitting.
Virginia accomplished a lot in her life and she would often say "she had three full careers within her lifetime." While working she would stay up late at night and write her own music. She also created her own production company, composed her own music and wrote her own lyrics. She even got to rub elbows with June Carter and Johnny Cash in Nashville at the Country Music Awards and even had a song on the charts.
Virginia retired at the beautiful young age of 45. As they announced they were letting people take packages and retire, grandma tells us she was first in line!
Her and Bob, her amazing husband of almost 50 years, moved to Las Vegas in 1994. They retired here and had a blast creating friend groups in bowling, they loved to play Bingo and they were extremely happy here.
My Grandma joined a Spiritualist church in town and worked her way into opening up her own doors, a clergy of her own, the Spiritualist Church of Eternal Light! After having the church successfully run for 10 years it became too much after Bob passed to keep up so the doors closed, however, Virginia continued to put together meetings at her home for her church members.
Her genes continue on through one daughter, three granddaughters, 4 great granddaughters and 2 great grandsons.
Her strength and conviction continue on through each and every one of us who can admire and adhere to her beauty from inside out.
Virginia had a very blessed life even through to her last wishes. She passed away peacefully in her sleep with all of her girls around. We all had our last goodbyes and she got to tell us all how much she loved us.
May we reflect how blessed we are to know this charismatic woman and may we continue her light through each and every one of us. She was an inspiration to many.
